charcoal sketch of a sleeping man

while i was working on my portfolio to apply for art school i made this sketch of a sleeping man with charcoal brown tones, that was in 2002. the photo that i used (i know, better to use live models but didn't have one around at the time) was in a catalogue i picked up outside a store at alsterarkaden, in hamburg, germany.

i think they had the catalogues outside since most people in that area just do window shopping. these are very pricey designer stores so i wouldn't dare walk into one and get snubbed by the salesclerk. or at least i didn't do it back then. i care a lot less now, my hubby taught me to.

what i loved the most about the picture were the lines on the guys face. it's not fair that male models can have all those lines in their face and grayish hair, i think women with these features look just as good.

this is how the alsterarkaden look like. i "borrowed" this image from the wolkennest site (i shot it myself so that's okay). it's a pretty area. we even went there to have some of our wedding pictures taken.

the color inspiration from friday's post and the link on sylvia's post on wednesday resulted in me spending a lot of time on this polyvore site. this site is so addictive. below you can see my little collage of things i loved and that stood out to me within my selected color pallette.

by the way: this is your last chance! don't forget to leave a comment on monday's giveaway post! the drawing will be tomorrow, nov. 29.
