color inspiration + sketch project = digital illustration

when i see other artists' work i enjoy seeing how their ideas develop from initial concept to creation and final result. i find it very inspiring to see how other people develop their ideas.

this is how i came up with my new flower design:

last week when i did my sketches for my 2011 sketch-a-day project i did a series of abstract flower drawings. i had a lot of fun making up the shapes and really wanted to see what i can do with these creations. so i found a color scheme that spoke to me.

then i sat down at my computer and hooked up my beloved wacom board. it's such a cool thing. it lets you use a pen to draw in photoshop, illustrator etc. instead of having to use the mouse. i picked it up for really cheap on ebay. i love great deals!

so this is what i came up with. a little flower landscape. i already played with this design some more, i have big plans for my little flowers when they grow up.
