hello 2011 - with one little word

for the past years i've followed the tradition of choosing a word for the year, but it mostly ended with posting it on my blog - and i forgot about it for most part of the year. but i love the concept of it: a little reminder, kind of a guideline, a gentle nodge towards what you are aiming for in the new year.

my word for 2011 is "rhythm". there is so much meaning in that word for me. it reminds me to keep up with healthy routines for me and my family in so many ways: spiritually, physically, creatively. be it a full homecooked meal at least 4 times a week, bedtime prayer with the little one, opa and oma day, daily story reading time, celebrating the first snowflakes... my goal is to keep up these routines and rituals but also to develop new ones according to the needs of my family.

i had this little scrapbook embellishment, a little pendant with a sticker in it. i took the sticker off and glued a piece of patterned paper inside instead. then i added my word and finished the whole thing up with a layer of gel medium. this way, my word for 2011 might not be forgotten as quickly as in the previous years, we'll see...

did you choose a word for 2011? if yes, please share in the comments section, we'd love to read about it!

i don't have any 2011 word, because i guess i could never decide which to go with! :)

but my all time favourite words are from moulin rouge - beauty, freedom, truth and love - kind of cheesy, but i think they work for me in almost every case!

and probably because i love that movie.

I've never thought of choosing a word. But I'll think about it. I definitely like yours, but i suppose that one's taken... ;)

This is a great idea! I strongly believe that we have themes of our lives and we have to routinely check them and change them if they need it. I think rythm is a good theme to have. As for me..... I'm going with ameliorate ~ make better ~ It's a continuous process!!
