relaxing with paint doodles

over the weekend i had an unexpected free hour or two at my disposal to use for painting when an appointment of mine got cancelled. gladly i had not yet cleaned off the table from the art class i gave. i think i was almost hoping i'd have some free time, since usually i clean up right away and store the art supplies back into my cool craft storage bins.

hah, well, my hubby would probably beg to differ on the last statement of cleaning up right away :)  but when it comes to my paints, brushes, etc. that is actually quite true. notepads, pencils, wire & beads etc. though can be found for weeks on the table, just shoved from one place to the next, picked up and used in between, then moved to the next spot or put in a neat pile (beauty and neatness are the eye of the beholder...) when we need the space to eat. we've been eating at the table more than usual since the living room is being completely renovated and the couches are standing upright on their sides, in other words: we can't sit anywhere else. i've been taking pictures of the renovation so when we're done i'll make a post about it in case anybody is curious to see the transformation.

anyhow, i made some paint doodles. it was very relaxing fun. if i don't like an area i just paint over it and try something new. i used different items i found in the house that i used to create shapes besides using the paint brush, such as different sizes of paper rolls. some i still had stored in my craft bins from when sylvia was here and we did something like this together.

what do you like to do if you unexpectedly have some extra time in your day?
do you do chores or do you treat yourself to something fun?

I wish my relaxed 'painting doodles' looked this fun and interesting. I love the colours and that the longer i look the more I see and find. It's gorgeous. Can't wait to see some more.

Very pretty!

I can't wait to see your new floors! I hope mine go down soon, but with crops going in the ground it may be a few more weeks.

Wow, I love the color palette here -- such an inspiring, yet calming, group of designs! Reminds of a day a the ocean, and the bursts of color you would in tide pools at low tide. Very lovely.

I love the colours that you used and the way that all the different textures work together so well.
Free time is DEFINITELY for crafting and fun stuff. Housework can wait (and yes that's the reason my house is a bit of a tip!)
