giving it a handmade look

we were recently invited to a 10th wedding anniversary party. we decided to give the couple a money gift. of course, i didn't want to hand over just an envelope, so i chose to personalize the gift a little with a pot of flowers and some handmade paper decoration.

here is what i used:
patterned paper
punches
needle and string (to make a garland similar to this mini-garland)
tooth picks (skewers would have worked a little better but i did't have any around)
washi tape
alphabet stickers (by prima marketing) on the pot

i punched out the hearts and the flowers from the patterned paper, and made a little envelope to place the money in. the washi tape was used to wrap around the toothpicks (to hold them together but also to give them a prettier look).

i like how it turned out, and i'm glad that i remembered to take some photos of it before we handed it over!

Sylvia, that is just precious. I would love to do something like that here, so will have to file it away! :)

Love this, it's so cute and warm looking - which is the concern when giving money, that it can seem cold (even when it's actually ideal for the recipient) so you've succeeded on both fronts :) Awesome!

the gift is great in itself, the money they'll discover later is more like a bonus. lovely!

Hi Sylvia: I'm Connie at http://hotflashncraftn.blogspot.com/, your new GFC friend. I would just love it if you stop by and be mine, too.
Love your header, so cute, but I'll admin the ants moving freaked me out, at first.
Thank you sharing this idea to personalize a pot of flower. Nice!
