3 dimensional wire and bead flower

what do you do if you visited a friend at hospital and you were not allowed to bring any live flowers into the building? well, when that happened to me i came up with making a flower with wires. this kind of flower can even last longer than the real deal and may be neglected without consequences. it's hard to show the 3 dimensionality of it in a photo, but i think the middle one captures some of it.

i came up with making things with wire as a teenager. i don't remember exactly how and when i started but i know i was inspired by an article i had read about this boy in africa that made all his toys with wire since this was all he had. he made really cool stuff - trucks and everything.

oh, i think it comes back to me now! for some reason i suddenly remembered: we were eating "abendbrot" (german word for supper, literally translated it means "evening bread") and there was a cheese that had a thin wire wrapped around it. at least i think it was a cheese. germans and many other europeans linger around the supper table for quite a while, just talking, so i must've gotten bored and started making a bike with that wire. i made a few bikes before i went on to new objects.

our recent giveaway featured wire fishes i made. in a future post i'll show you what i made of wire that sylvia wore on her wedding day...

So super cute! I got started with some wire stuff during a 3D design class I took. It's a tough medium but so worth the outcome! Great share!

In fifth grade you came home with some wire that was left-over from certain classroom-decorations. Then you started making your wire-bicycles, some of which still decorate our fireplace. In fact, I always wondered, how artistic you were as a little girl already. Wonderful gift!
