a t-shirt for baby - crafting with children

when i saw this cute craft project on the blog of sew liberated, i knew i wanted to give it a try here too! i bought a few fabric markers and a plain white t-shirt. i then covered a cutting mat that is about as big as the body of the shirt with douple sided tape and stuck it inside, pulling the rest of the shirt together with a few safety pins at the back of the cutting mat. i still had to help out with pulling the t-shirt tight against the mat from time to time, because otherwise it would have been very hard to actually draw on the fabric. but spencer did quite a good job holding the t-shirt himself, and he also realized that circles didn't work well, so he mostly drew lines :)

i pointed out that there were some empty areas left on the t-shirt, but he said he was done after drawing on the lower right side. he did the same with the t-shirt that i got for him to keep! he's in a silly phase when it comes to having his photograph taken, but i somehow got him to "pose" with both t-shirts...

Shy or not he is so cute in that pose. I used to love watching my kids create artwork. Great idea for a tee shirt!

What a cute idea and one I want to do here.
The wee one went through the same stage for awhile, thank goodness it doesn't last long.

I think he looks adorable with his head down, but I understand...my kids don't like having their pictures taken either sometimes.

Have a good weekend! I keep expecting to see a post about the new baby's arrival! (can't remember when you're due)
