milo for a three year old

i can hardly believe it myself but our little man turned 3 last weekend. he is such a sensitive, helpful, bubbly little guy. he still love love  l o v e s  playing with cars and trucks and tractors more then anything else, but also enjoys his lego duplo set and puzzles. he makes his little sister laugh and makes sure to inform me of what she's up to if i'm not in the room. he is just so much fun to have around! i have the feeling that this last year has flown by faster then the others and i'm afraid this will continue :(

my favourite piece of clothing to make for the little ones in the colder season is definitely vests. they're not too bulky and leave enough room to move, but keep them warm at the same time. and they're quick to make ;)

it was a bit of a trial and error with this Milo. the yarn and needles i used were thicker/bigger then what the pattern called for. so i browsed Ravelry a little and decided to cast on the 12 month size. unfortunately, although after i had finished the yoke it looked like it was a snug fit, it turned out a little too big after all. well, i keep telling myself that children grow (too fast), so too big is better than too small...

you can find more details on my Ravely project page. i noticed my hubby liked the vest, so now i'm planning my biggest knitting project yet: a vest for him...

The milo is wonderful! I love his stripey legs that go with the vest. I agree that vests are easier on a child than a bulky sweater, happy birthday little guy!!

he looks so cute in the new vest and all the stripes. tell hubby he'll only get a vest too if he promises to also wear it with stripey leggings, haha :)

It looks so great on him. And a little big is better than a little small. Hope he had a wonderful birthday and many happy wishes for his next trip around the sun.

Spencer looks so cute in his beautiful new vest and those leggings!
What makes me smile: when my daughters were little - and for my husband as well ;)) - I used to knit quite a few pullunders for them and yet sometimes felt that was a bit old-fashioned of me. But now young mothers do the same for their kids (and hubbies). Maybe keeping your loved ones warm never gets old-fashioned really....
